Clinical Neurology of the Older Adult

This volume is a practical, easily accessible guide to the evaluation and treatment of neurologic problems in older adults. The book is organized so that clinicians can quickly look up either a patient's symptom(s) or a disease, and includes many helpful medication charts and diagnostic algorithms. Section 1 details the neurologic workup, describes the diagnostic tests commonly used in older adults, and discusses age-related problems--such as interactions among multiple medications--that can complicate diagnosis and treatment. Section 2 focuses on common neurologic signs and symptoms, such as acute confusional state, dizziness, and headaches. Section 3 covers specific disease entities--disorders of the central and peripheral nervous system, systemic diseases with neurologic manifestations, and iatrogenic conditions.
