Abstract: Material is provided to assist potential, new, and seasoned supervisors in understanding and influencing the behavior of people at work. While not intended as a complete book on supervision, the text focuses on the core aspects of supervision; namely, motivation and communication. Topics include: aspects of why and how motivation works; motivating by meaningful job design; using participative management techniques; introducing changes effectively; effective communication skills; and barriers to understanding in a supervisor-subordinate work environment.
