Interventional Neuroradiology (Medical Radiology)

This work brings together leading authorities worldwide to chronicle the technical evolution of endovascular therapy of intracranial, spinal, and head and neck vascular malformations and tumours and to assess the clinical experience acquired to date. "Interventional Neuroradiology" demonstrates state-of-the-art techniques for superselectively catheterizing feeders related to aneurysms, congenital or acquired vascular malformations, or vascular tumours and thus gathering crucial anatomic, functional, and dynamic information - information not obtainable by standard angiographic or other radiologic studies. The groundwork-laying introductory presentation of fundamental principles and methodology is followed by a review of: endovascular therapy for head and neck tumours, dural fistulas, intracranial aneurysms, nongalenic cerebral arteriovenous fistulas; embolization of intracranial aneurysms (including new procedures involving detachable microcoils and electrothrombosis), spinal cord vascular lesions, Galen vascular malformations; management of traumatic carotid-cavernous fistulas and vein of Galen aneurysmal malformations; plus angioplasty of brachiocephalic vessels, the role of fibrinolysis in cerebrovascular disease, and intra-arterial chemotherapy of brain tumours.
