Preface: In this issue of Radiologic Clinics of North America, readers discover recent innovations in noninvasive vascular imaging, including new applications for ultrasound, computed tomography angiography, and magnetic resonance angiography. The articles on pulmonary vascular disease and magnetic resonance lymphangiography introduce readers to important emerging applications for MR imaging. As minimally invasive and endovascular approaches to treating cardiovascular disease become more mainstream, it is critical that physicians become up to date on the appropriate imaging that is a part of the management, particularly in patients with structural heart disease and thoracic aortic disease. Other areas where substantial changes have occurred in assessing vascular disease include vasculitis, mesenteric ischemia, renal vascular disease, vascular malformations, and nonatherosclerotic peripheral vascular disease.
