The Year's Work in English Studies

"The Year's Work in English Studies" is an annual critical bibliography of some 1000 pages which aims to cover for a given year all work of quality in English studies. It contains: critical notices of some 1500 books; extensive coverage of English language, literary theory, American literature, new literatures in English and English literature; coverage of specialist periodicals (including volume numbers for journals and pagination of all articles cited); comprehensive indexing - by critic, author and subject; listings by period, of the best books and articles reviewed; bibliographical end-notes for each chapter. Volume 72 evaluates work published in 1991.
