New Concepts in the Immunopathogenesis of CNS Infections

Comprising the contributions of some 46 recognised experts in their field, New Concepts in the Immunopathogenesis of CNS Infections presents our current understanding, at a molecular level, of the strategies used by the host to defend the brain. In some of the chapters, new concepts of the treatment and prevention of CNS infections are highlighted, especially in those instances where understanding of the immunopathogenesis is limited. The result of collaboration with major contributors in their field, this is an outstanding collection of dissertations on the complex interplay between infectious agents and host responses involved in CNS infections. Also included are directions for future research on immunopathogenesis and therapy of these infections.
