Leukaemia is a very heterogeneous group of diseases with a variety of causes, disease processes and outcomes. Accurate diagnosis and classification will ultimately determine the choice of therapy and possible disease outcome for the patient. Leukaemia Diagnosis is written by Barbara Bain, an acclaimed morphologist, and provides a thorough guide to the principles of diagnosis and classification. The major methods of classification are reviewed (including FAB and MIC) as well as problems that arise in applying them, along with their strengths, weaknesses and ambiguities. The second edition has been significantly revamped, and includes many more full colour illustrations to describe the disease entities in more detail and to assist in diagnosis.
