As in the two preceding books, this edition is organized for both practicality and accessibility. For each diagnostic category, pharmacological, psychotherapeutic, educational, and other interventions for emergency, acute, and chronic presentations are described; limitations and contraindications discussed; prognosis indicated, and specific treatment recommendations presented. Treatment information is specifically coordinated with the DSM-IV, and the authors' discussion reflects what is currently known about virtually all standard treatments, as well as many of the more esoteric therapies.
