Assistive Technologies in Smart Environments for People with Disabilities

Ambient intelligence, when performed through assistive technologies in the smart home context, can transform and enhance the way people with disabilities perform their activities of daily living, activities that would otherwise be difficult for them to do. Impairments are so diverse that implementing complex technological solutions such as prediction of users’ activities represents a major challenge to universal design.
