Economics and Geopolitics of Indonesia

Located in Southeast Asia, Indonesia serves as the largest Archipelagic nation in the world. It is a nation of islands consisting of more than 18,000 with a population of 200 million people. Indonesia has been the epicentre of terrorism in Southeast Asia in recent years. In addition, its coastal geography leaves the nation vulnerable to severe flooding, unpredictable drought, plant pest attacks, volcanic activity and earthquakes, which are sometimes associated with tsunamis. The most important environmental issues associated with human activities are forest degradation, water pollution from industrial wastes and sewage, air pollution from motor vehicles and industry in urban areas, smoke and haze caused by forest fires.
