Social Inequalities

Social inequality refers to a situation in which individuals in a society do not have equal social status. Areas of potential social inequality include voting rights, freedom of speech and assembly, the extent of property rights and access to education, health care, quality housing and other social goods. This book presents current research from across the globe in the study of social inequality, including social inequalities in health and their international variations; social stratification by sex, age and social class in Chinese society; the impact of social risk factors on pregnancy, childbirth and the postpartum period; the predictive validity of modern racism and socio-economic conditions and health in Europe.
