Lupus Symptoms, Treatment and Potential Complications

Lupus is one of many disorders of the immune system known as auto-immune diseases, wherein the immune system attacks parts of the patient's body, leading to inflammation and injury in body tissues. This book presents current research in the study of the symptoms, treatment and potential complications of lupus. Topics include autoantibody-producing B cells and B cell therapy in systemic lupus erythematosus; neuropsychiatric and hematologic manifestations of systemic lupus erythematosus; pulmonary hypertension in systemic lupus erythematosus; dual roles for antibodies in lupus nephritis; and treatment of systemic lupus erythematosus with intravenous immunoglobulins.
