In this text, the authors discuss the types, performance impact and advantages/disadvantages of network topologies. The topics include the analysis of the topological structure of networks and related problems via simple rules; application of artificial neural networks in the diagnosis of coronary heart disease; network topology, signal function pathways and cell function; model-based risk analysis of complex networks; and network analysis of clinical, medical and molecular data in systems science.
