The sub-field of sociology that utilizes computationally intensive methods for analyzing and modeling of social phenomena is called computational sociology. It uses the techniques of computer simulations, complex statistical methods, and social network analysis to develop and analyze complex social processes. This discipline includes the understanding of social agents, interaction between these agents and the effect of such interactions on the social aggregate.
