This book encompasses a detailed clinical theory regarding the human papillomavirus and the related diseases. Cervical cancer is the second most widespread cancer amongst women globally, and Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) infection has been identified as the main cause of this condition. The natural history of cervical cancer is distinguished by slow disease progression, making it realistically preventable and even treatable if diagnosed in early stages. Pap smear and the newly proposed prophylactic vaccines are the most commonly practiced prevention options, but regardless of the availability of these primary and secondary screening techniques, the worldwide burden of this disease continues to be unfortunately very high.
