Effective Leadership

Leadership is a practical skill that encompasses the ability of an individual or an organization to guide other organizations, individuals or teams. Characteristics such as assertiveness, authenticity, dominance, character strengths, emotional intelligence, self-efficacy for leadership, self-motivation and self-monitoring are closely associated with leadership. Qualities such as tactical and technological knowledge as well as cultural and geopolitical awareness are also often related to leadership. A leader's style of providing directions, motivating people and implementing plans is known as the leadership style. It is generally influenced by the personality, experience and philosophy of the leader. The leadership styles can be categorized as autocratic or authoritarian, paternalism, participative or democratic, task-oriented and relationship-oriented, and laissez-faire or free-rein.
