Overview

Water resource management is the activity of planning, developing, distributing and managing the optimum use of water resources. It is a sub-set of water cycle management. Ideally, water resource management planning has regard to all the competing demands for water and seeks to allocate water on an equitable basis to satisfy all uses and demands. As with other resource management, this is rarely possible in practice. Hydrological Basis for Water Resources Management contains eleven chapters. First chapter ensures the development and uptake of scenarios to support water resources planning, development, and management. Historical water resources and hydrological background in South ASia has been described in chapter second. Third chapter examines adaptation technology with benefits of hydrological services watershed management in semi-arid region of India. Fourth chapter presents adaptation of land-use demands to the impact of climate change on the hydrological processes of an urbanized watershed. A hydrological basis for potential evapottranspiration estimation based on a simplified formulation of the Penman-Monteith Equation has been discussed in chapter fifth. Sixth chapter reviews the hydrological basis of agricultural land damaged by tsunami. Context and climate projections with climate risk assessment for water resources development in the Niger River Basin Part I has been represented in chapter seventh. Eighth chapter discusses about runoff elasticity and probabilistic analysis with climate risk assessment for water resources development in the Niger River Basin Part II. Ninth and tenth chapters elaborate the calibration of a new device to measure water resources management and determining evatranspiration with irrigation demand for annual crops. Last chapter provides the Productivity of Water in large rice irrigation schemes in the upper catchment of the great Ruaha River Basin, Tanzania.
