Information technology influences every aspect of library management and services. Librarian must become proficient in using systems for a wide variety of tasks including circulation, acquisitions, cataloging, serial management, digitization, information storage and retrieval, and remote access for patrons. This text is divided into thirteen chapters. First chapter examines the automation process at University libraries and the new managerial issues coming on in this technological era. Second chapter reviews on scientometric analysis of contributions to journal of scientific and industrial research. Third chapter looks into implementing FRID in libraries for process automation. Fourth chapter is a brief overview of the integrated software system and implemented within the university library, starting at the motivation of using the selected software components in the development system and ending with the description of its most important facilities. The purpose of the fifth chapter is to highlight the role of libraries in the provision of information towards the attainment of the United Nation Millennium Development Goals (MDGS) in Nigeria. Some ISIS-software history and technical background on the new FOSS integrated library system ABCD has been presented in chapter sixth. Seventh chapter gives the information of rural public libraries and digital inclusion. Eight chapter is to ascertain the challenges and benefits of library automation and to recommend how the challenges could be addressed. This chapter also shows as a result of automation, the library is faster and efficient than before in its operations. Ninth chapter examines the literary learning spaces, strategies and opportunities in the information age, with the view of identifying the roles of libraries in creating and enhancing literacy-friendly environment for national development. The objective of tenth chapter is to ascertain the major consideration in the choice of software by the selected libraries, to examine the problems encounters and reasons for the change of software. Eleventh chapter attempts to discuss the fast development of information technology and its application in the library services. Twelfth chapter explains about National Knowledge Resource Consortium and examines awareness and use of the consortium by the users of MISCAIR. Last chapter gives an informative preview of the contents and design of Research and Development institutions websites.
