Atmospheric Science: From Theory to Applications

Atmospheric science primarily deals with the study of the Earth's atmosphere and its processes. It also studies the effects of other systems on the atmosphere as well as the effects of the atmospheric processes on these systems. Aeronomy, meteorology and climatology are the important areas of atmospheric science. The upper layers of the atmosphere are studied in aeronomy. Meteorology focuses on weather forecasting and includes atmospheric physics and atmospheric chemistry. Climatology studies atmospheric changes that occur due to natural and anthropogenic climatic variability. Atmospheric science is a vast field that also encapsulates planetary science. It studies the atmospheres of other planets and natural satellites of the solar system. This book attempts to understand the multiple branches that fall under the discipline of atmospheric science and how such concepts have practical applications.
