The amazing progress in technology has profoundly affected the way we handle & access multilingual & multiscript library materials--an issue of growing importance as the world becomes smaller & user populations grow ever more diverse. These proceedings reflect the progress made in realizing the 'Global Village Library' since the first meeting was held in Tokyo in 1986. From the technical aspects involved in creating a multilingual automated thesaurus to the future of world wide networking, topics of theoretical & practical concern are treated.
