There has been a resurgence in laser-ablation-based processing of materials since the discovery of high-Tc superconductivity nearly a decade ago. Since then, pulsed laser ablation has emerged as one of the most popular methods to deposit thin films of oxides, ceramics and other related materials. In addition to the deposition of oxide films, several new areas, such as colossal magnetoresistance, ferroelectric and high-k dielectric thins films, in situ diagnostics, superlattices, and carbon nitrides, have developed.
