What interests artists today in the moving image and its representation in view of the long tradition of cross-fertilization between art and film? Presenting a survey of this complex web of relations, this publication offers an opportunity to explore the subject art and film in a comprehensive manner . Current prevailing institutional conditions are discussed together with aesthetic explorations of space and time, and the quest for both artistic and social freedom. Curated by_Vienna is a project aimed at promoting asystematical collaboration between galleries and curators. art&film presents artworks relating to film from 20 international artists, invited by curators from 20 galleries.
