The book describes the intravascular ultrasound systems currently available; thoroughly explains how to interpret images; depicts abnormal findings seen in atherosclerosis and other conditions; and presents 100 case studies that show how intravascular ultrasound is used in clinical practice--to evaluate diseases, select appropriate treatment, and assess complications and results and mechanisms of therapy. Each case includes several ultrasound images and angiography images (if available); a brief history and procedure synopsis; and a discussion of how intravascular ultrasound affected the clinical decision-making process. The book also gives suggestions for troubleshooting technical problems that produce artifacts.
