In March 2000, RAND Arroyo Center, Marine Corps Warfighting Laboratory, U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command, and the Office of the Secretary of Defense hosted a conference on urban operations. Its objectives were to explain the significance of urban areas in current and future military operations; consider and discuss methods and means of seizing, stabilizing, or controlling such areas in the 21st century; identify technology requirements across the spectrum of urban operations; and identify C4ISR requirements inherent in military urban operations and ways of meeting these requirements. Along with a detailed introduction by the editor, this document includes transcriptions of each presentation.
