Central Bank to the European Union outlines and discusses the structure of the new central bank: The European Monetary Institute (EMI), the European System of Central Banks (ESCB) and the European Central Bank (ECB). These three will form the institutional basis of the EMU. The EMI is already established (January 1, 1994), and will serve as the interim entity to prepare the final system.
