Clinical Maternal-Fetal Nutrition

Maternal-foetal nutrition has been described as both an art and a science. There is strong scientific evidence demonstrating the effect of maternal nutrition on the outcome of a pregnancy and yet the practical guidelines using the body of knowledge is limited. This book presents the research along with practical recommendations for clinicians, including assessment of the date, the healthy gravida, the gravida with special problems including phenylketronuria, lactose intolerance, infertility and chronic foetal loss, and intrauterine growth retardation. Also included is information on nutritional supplements and prenatal vitamins, including their relationship to congenital anomalies.
