Cyprus: Ethnic Conflict and International Politics From Independence to the Threshold of the European Union

Since the 1950s Cyprus has been a place of tension, friction, and violence caused by the clashing interests and claims of the two local communities and three NATO allies - Greece, Turkey, and Britain. The Cyprus question has also presented dangers and opportunities to the USA, USSR/Russia and international organizations including the UN, NATO and the EU.
