"This edition highlights the latest development in the identification of pathogenic prokaryotic and eukaryotic organisms causing illnesses in humans. Recent advancement of molecular diagnostic techniques has resulted in significant improvement in the diagnosis of diseases as well as in its control and prevention. The importance of rapid and sensitive detection methods for the correct identification of pathogenic microorganisms isolated from clinical and routine environmental surveillance samples, outbreaks, sporadic cases, food products, drugs and cosmetics of public health safety is now recognized.
