Educational Technology in the 21st Century

E-learning refers to the practice of using, managing and creating technological processes to improve performance and facilitate learning. In the present age, it is practiced in four different ways, which are synchronous and asynchronous, computer-supported collaborative learning (CSCL), flipped classroom and computer-based training (CBT). E-learning is a vast field, which uses different platforms to function, such as virtual learning environment (VLE), learning content management system (LCMS), training management system, etc. A significant aspect of educational technology is e-assessment, which enables the use of information technology for educational assessment. Some common examples of e-assessment include e-marking, computerized adaptive testing and computerized classification testing. This book discusses the fundamentals as well as modern approaches of e-learning. The topics covered herein deal with the core aspects of this domain.
