Employer Liability for Workplace Trauma

Workplace trauma, explains Butler (law, Queensland U. of Technology), embraces a wide range of cases of psychiatric symptoms following a traumatic incident or stressor experienced by an employee at work. He notes that in Australia and the UK, employer liability for it represents a confluence of two streams of authority: liability for psychiatric injury in general; and the liability of employers under their duty of care, the contract of employment and statutory duty arising from workplace health and safety legislation.
