Environmental Microbiology

Environmental microbiologists study the composition and relationship of microorganisms in the environmentthe soil, air, and water. Although they are extremely tiny, microbial life can be extremely complex and diverse. For example, an average gram of soil contains approximately one billion microbes, representing several thousand species.
