Overview

A wireless ad hoc network (WANET) is a decentralized type of wireless network. The network is ad hoc because it does not rely on a preexisting infrastructure, such as routers in wired networks or access points in managed (infrastructure) wireless networks. Instead, each node participates in routing by forwarding data for other nodes, so the determination of which nodes forward data is made dynamically on the basis of network connectivity. The book "Handbook of Wireless Ad-Hoc Networks" is divided into ten chapter. First chapter reviews the existing approaches for AB estimation, presenting the efforts and challenges to AB estimation in 802.11 or 802.11-alike ad hoc networks. The mechanisms to synchronize the local clocks of the nodes in WSN have been extensively investigated in second chapter. We introduce a new medical technology paradigm centered on wireless technology and cloud computing in third chapter that was designed to overcome the problems of increasing health technology costs. In fourth chapter, we bring forward an Active QoS Mechanism (AQM), the core of it is the negotiation between applications and network and the active intervention for them. Fifth chapter focuses on communication in a distributed system such as a WSN. The main purpose of communication in WSNs is to retransmit messages and route them to the base station. Sixth chapter emphases on a number of design aspects of physical layer methods such as modulation and source and channel coding. Seventh chapter describes the design and implementation of a wireless neural telemetry system that enables new experimental paradigms, such as neural recordings during rodent navigation in large outdoor environments. We propose a multi-parametric clustering scheme designed to aid in the coordination of sensor nodes within cognitive wireless sensor networks in eight chapter. Ninth chapter goes through a description of the strategies developed so far to handle the problem of communication in strip-like topologies. Last chapter focuses on system and traffic analysis employed to model the complexity of communication traffic.
