He specializes in Corpus Linguistics, Natural Language Processing, Language Technology, and Applied Linguistics. To his credit he has published ten books and nearly hundred research papers in peer-reviewed national and international journals. As a Guest Faculty he has taught in Madras University, Chennai; Jadavpur University, Kolkata; Pubjabi University,Patiala; North Bengal University, Darjeeling; Sanskrit University, Tirupati; Telugu University, Hyderabad; R.K. Mission Vivekananda University, Kolkata and Ranchi University, Ranchi. Also, he has acted as an Expert in the ASI@it&C of the localization of Language Technology of the European Commission. At present he is acting as the Principal Investigator for two language technology related projects (ILCI -Bengali and Indradhanusha WordNet for Bengali) funded by the Ministry of Information & communication Technology, Govt. of India; and as a coordinator for the development of Electronic Databases of Word-formation Parameters for 200 Languages across the World, Undertaken by the Dept. of British and American Studies, Faculty of Arts, P.J.
