Legal Visions of the New Europe

Publication of this book contributes to the centenary celebrations of the Faculty of Law at Liverpool University. The work comprises a collection of original, closely integrated contributions from both English and continental scholars. It reflects current concerns in the legal regulation of the new Europe - notably its constitutional and institutional structure, and human rights, social and environmental policy. It also illustrates the importance, for the study of the new Europe, of broad academic approaches: not merely those suggested by the immediate socioeconomic context but also lessons derivable from legal history, comparative law and legal philosophy. For the new Europe should be seen not only as a response to current political trends, but also as a new reflection of a long-standing European legal culture.
