Mammalogy

Mammalogy is a sub-division of vertebrate zoology which includes the study of mammals. It is a class of vertebrates that have characteristics such as homeothermic metabolism, four-chambered hearts, fur and complex nervous system. There are various branches of mammalogy including taxonomy and systematics, natural history, ecology, ethology, anatomy and physiology, and management and control. It also branches into other sub-disciplines that are taxonomically-oriented such as cetology and primatology. The scientific study of primates is known as primatology. It includes the study of both living and extinct primates in their natural habitats as well as in laboratories.
