Vartan P. Messier was born in Geneva, receiving a Bachelor's from the University of San Diego and a Master's from the University of Puerto Rico-Mayagüez; he is now pursuing a Ph.D. in Comparative Literature at the University of California-Riverside. He has taught French and English at Universities and institutions across Europe and the Americas and now serves as President of the College English Association's Caribbean Chapter.
