An overview of membrane trafficking pathways has been provided in this all-inclusive book. Membrane traffic is a wide domain that deals with complex exchange of membranes that occurs inside a cell. Protein, lipids and other molecules travel among intracellular organelles, are delivered to or transferred from the cell surface by virtue of membranous carriers known as "transport intermediates". These carriers have distinct shapes and sizes; and their biogenesis, mode of transport and delivery to the final destination are monitored by a multitude of very intricate molecular mechanisms. The concept that every membrane pathway does not represent a close system, but is fully integrated with all the other trafficking pathways has emerged in past few years. This book intends to present a general overview of the degree of this crosstalk.
