Phonological awareness in reading: The evolution of current perspectives (Springer series in language and communication)

Scholars from different cultural and linguistic backgrounds are brought together to review the empirical studies on the ability to reflect upon and manipulate the phonemic segments of speech. They present their conceptual insights on the relationship of phonological awareness to the reading process, drawing upon an extensive body of empirical research.
