Prostate Basic and Clinical Aspects

The first book presenting both basic and clinical aspects of the prostate. The book reflects recent advances in prostate research and covers the field as a whole from epidemiology to etiology, including the diagnostic and therapeutic aspects of normal and abnormal growth of the prostate. Prostate: Basic and Clinical Aspects is organized in three sections. Section I describes trends in the epidemiology of prostatic diseases and their impact on men. Section II covers the current state of knowledge including basic and clinical research on ontogeny and etiology of prostate growth obtained in humans, rat models, or by using in vitro cultured cell lines. The final section addresses diagnostic and therapeutic aspects of benign prostate hyperplasia and prostate cancer.
