Radiocarbon Dates From Samples Funded by English Heritage and Dated Before 1981

This volume contains a list of radiocarbon age determinations carried out between 1970 and 1982 on behalf of the Ancient Monuments Laboratory and funded by English Heritage. It also contains supporting information about the samples and sites producing them and indexes which may be used for reference and analysis. The cross-references of radio-carbon dates to their archaeological assumptions provides interesting specualtion on the application of radiocarbon dating in English archaeology. The sites and objects analysed are diverse, and include The Brooks, Winchester, Wharram Percy, Somerset Levels, Rivenhall, Poundbury, Mucking, Danebury. Also contains a comprehensive bibliography, and indexes ordering the information contained in the datelist by HAR numbers and by true calender dates.
