Statics, Engineering Mechanics

A textbook for a two-semester introductory course in engineering mechanics, based on the authors' 25 years of teaching the course at the U. of Texas, Austin. The approach is to present material as it is taught in the classroom, using more sequences of figures and stressing the importance of careful visual analysis and conceptual understanding. Because a firm working knowledge of vectors is necessary, the authors give a complete treatment of elementary vector analysis that the instructor can cover fully or in part, depending on the students' preparation.
