Survey of Jewish Affairs, 1989

An annual compilation of authoritative articles that single out, describe and interpret world affairs and issues of Jewish concern, the Survey of Jewish Affairs has been published by Associated University Presses of New Jersey since the early 1980s. 1989 is its first year with Basil Blackwell. This issue reviews the year 1988, which was remarkable even by the normally volatile standards of the Middle East. The Arab-Israeli conflict was characterized by the Palestinian uprising, known as the intifada, in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank.
