The Patient's Internet Handbook

Providing an accessible gateway to the wealth of health information available on the Internet, this book shows the reader, through examples, how to find health information specific to their needs. The book is divided into five discrete sections. Section 1 gives practical advice on how to connect to, and use, the Internet. Section 2 builds on these skills and considers how to find health information that is accurate, timely and appropriate. Section 3 adopts a more subject-focused approach and looks at what information and services can be accessed through the Internet and section 4 examines the issue of quality and provides guidance on how to evaluate health information. The final section takes the form of a directory to web-based information sources for 100 common medical conditions.
