This book is a true account of the grim realities of chronic anorexia nervosa and the destruction it causes. The author's hope in writing the book is that it may help other sufferers, carers, and professionals in making decisions regarding treatment of this crippling addiction. She would like treatments to recognize the identity of the person behind the addiction more so that the sufferer can hold on to their identity before the anorexia completely engulfs them. The author also argues that more support is needed for families caring for the sufferer, and she hopes that professionals working in the treatment of eating disorders may take the time to read this book and consider the treatment issues in a way that helps those under their care now. As for those suffering with any eating disorder, the author hopes that reading this book may convince them to confront the addiction before it destroys their life. Anorexia is not about reaching the ultimate "thinnest". Rather, it is an immensely damaging addiction that will only inflict pain into the sufferer's life and those around them.
