Pamphilia to Amphilanthus is a sonnet sequence that Wroth appended to her 1621 prose romance The Countesse of Mountgomeries Urania, becoming the first women writer in English to publish in either genre. O'Hara (English, Georgian Court U.) examines conventions and the lack of them in the poems. Among her topics are the presence of Amphilanthus and the negation of idealized constancy, ideal love and the negation of marriage, and Pamphilia's subversive text.
