Toward a Culture of Nature Environmental Policy and Sustainable Development in Cuba

In 1989, facing a grace shortage of petroleum, Cuba moved toward a more sustainable society and lighter ecological footprint by adopting renewable energy resources, organic agriculture, green medicine, strict environmental protection laws and incorporating environmental education and ethics into public education while maintaining a commitment to social development in health care and education to its people.
