Zircon and Olivine Characteristics, Types and Uses

This book presents topical research in the study of the mineralogy of zircon and olivine and their properties, production and applications. Topics discussed include the application of U-PB dating and chemistry of zircon in the continental crust of Calabria; the internal morphology and crystal growth of accessory zircon from igneous rocks; the reduction, softening and melting behaviour of olivine pellets in an experimental blast furnace; characterizing the radiation damage in zircon and the weathering reactions of olivine as an effective way to sustainably capture CO2.
