Networking and Integration of Facilities Automation Systems

Facilities increasingly rely on computerized systems for optimization of building systems operation and reduction of costs of building maintenance and management. Systems networking and their integration is becoming a new discipline for facilities managers and engineers as more and more computerized systems are being implemented. Most facilities engineers and managers are trained in engineering disciplines related to the building and HVAC industries or in controls and automation systems. Communications and networking are new to most facilities managers and engineers. The last chapter is a case study of a large scale integration effort over several years.
